Hope Against Trafficking (“Hope,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and shared when you visit hopeagainsttrafficking.org, contact us, subscribe to updates, support our work, shop with us, or submit information through our website.
Information we collect
- Contact and communication information: your name, email address, phone number, and information you include in messages or newsletter signups.
- Volunteer and ambassador information: contact details, mailing address, date of birth, gender, and information you provide about yourself, depending on the form you complete.
- Donations, purchases, and accounts: billing and shipping details, order or donation amounts, transaction details, and account information. Payment information is handled through the payment or donation provider used for your transaction.
- Program inquiries and applications: information you choose to provide when seeking services or completing an application. Applications may include sensitive personal information and are submitted through a separate intake service embedded on our website.
- Website and device information: IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, referring pages, approximate location derived from IP address, and interactions with website features, cookies, or similar technologies.
How we use information
We use information to respond to inquiries; review volunteer, ambassador, and program requests; process donations and orders; arrange fulfillment; maintain accounts and transaction records; send requested updates and information about our mission, events, and opportunities to participate; operate and improve the website; understand engagement with our outreach; prevent misuse; and meet applicable legal and recordkeeping obligations.
Program applications and sensitive information
Our Program Application page embeds an Apricot intake form hosted by Social Solutions. Information you enter is processed through that service to support application review and program administration. This website policy does not replace any separate program consent forms, confidentiality notices, or service-related disclosures provided during intake.
Please avoid including Social Security numbers, medical records, detailed accounts of traumatic experiences, or other highly sensitive information in general contact forms or ordinary email. Contact us to discuss the appropriate way to provide information needed for services. If it is unsafe for us to call, email, or leave a message, please let us know your preferred safe way to communicate.
Cookies, analytics, and advertising technologies
The website uses cookies and similar technologies to support features such as account login and shopping carts. It also includes analytics and Meta/Facebook tracking integrations that may collect information about visits, device identifiers, and interactions to measure website use, evaluate outreach, and support advertising. These technologies can transmit information to their providers and may allow those providers to associate website activity with other information they hold.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings and use any cookie preference controls offered on the website. Blocking cookies may affect some features. You can also manage advertising preferences through your Google or Meta account. Browser cookie controls may not stop every type of data collection. Learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy and Meta’s Privacy Policy.
For more information about these technologies and your options, read our Cookie Policy.
When information is shared
Information may be shared with providers that support website hosting, forms, email delivery, donation processing, payment processing, order fulfillment, program intake, analytics, and outreach. These providers receive information relevant to the services they perform. For example, donation links lead to Kindful, the store uses WooCommerce and payment integrations, and program applications use Apricot. Embedded media, including Vimeo videos, and social media features may also collect information when used or loaded.
We may also disclose information when required by law or legal process, to protect people or the security and rights of our organization and others, or when you authorize a disclosure. Third-party websites and services have their own privacy practices; review their notices when making a donation, submitting information, or using their features.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages or contact us for help. Transactional or service-related communications may still be needed in connection with an order, donation, inquiry, or application.
To ask about information you have provided, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern, email hello@hopeagainsttrafficking.org. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have additional rights concerning access, deletion, correction, or certain uses and disclosures of personal information. We will review requests under applicable requirements and may need to verify your identity. Some records may need to be retained for legal, accounting, security, or program-related reasons.
Retention and security
Retention periods depend on the type of information, the purpose for which it was collected, and applicable legal, accounting, and operational requirements. Contact us with questions about a particular record or to request deletion. No website, email system, or method of electronic storage can guarantee complete security. Please take care when deciding what information to send online.
Children’s privacy
Our website is intended for a general audience, and our residential program serves adults. Website forms are not intended for children under 13 to submit personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through this website, please contact us so we can review and address it.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy as our website or practices change. Updates will appear on this page with a revised effective date.
